Let's go Bananas - The Biology of Endothelial Cell Aging
This video was produced together with Laura De Rooij who runs a lab at the Center for Molecular Medicing (CeMM) in Vienna. Laura studies the Biology behind endothelial cell aging using single-cell approaches. Her lab aims at understanding why some endothelial cells age faster than others, and decipheres the physiological consequences of aging endothelial cells.
We choose aging Bananas as a metaphor to illustrate Laura’s research and recorded this stop-motion video in my living room. The product won the Nature Science-in-Shorts Award 2024, being one of 10 Winners among more than 250 submissions. Not only was it indrecibly fun to produce this video, we also got to eat literally 200> Bananas in the week after the recording – Stay Juicy!
